ABSTRACT
This article focuses on the decision of Interpublic Group of Cos. Inc. to conduct a financial audit of its Western Initiative Media Worldwide. It is not known what triggered the audit or what the auditors are looking into, but insiders said no one has been accused of wrongdoing and the investigation may not turn up anything. But insiders said a power struggle recently developed between Michael Kassan, president of Western's North American operations and vice chairman of the worldwide company, who is based in West Hollywood, California, and Larry Lamattina, New York City-based chairman and CEO of Western Initiative.
