ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the Purpose Process Curriculum Framework (PPCF) for physical education. The framework is described as a summary of theoretical concepts in the field, and a guideline for future practice. The article focuses on the application of the theoretical framework to physical education in a middle school setting. Details are provided for a research study that looked at the physical education curriculum for sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students in rural Georgia. Curriculum planning domains and concepts of the purpose of physical activity identified in the study were found to be consistent with those in the PPCF.
