ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the Purpose Process Curriculum Framework (PPCF) for physical education. Cross-cultural differences in the purpose and meaning of physical activity are examined. The study examined the results of questionnaires completed by physical education teachers in the United States, England, and Japan. Similarities in purposes for physical activity were found between cultures, including physical, mental, social, and emotional benefits. Differences in responses between cultures are discussed.
