ABSTRACT
This article examines early field teaching requirements in undergraduate physical education programs. Student teaching has traditionally served as a preservice initiation for teachers making a transition into the professional world. However, the author reveals that many teacher educators are praising the merits of giving teachers in training earlier field experience.
