ABSTRACT
The article reports that Walter Thurnhofer, director of food and nutrition services at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle, has won FoodService Director magazine's 2005 FSD of the Year Award. Thurnhofer also linked refrigerators, freezers and other equipment with an automated temperature monitoring system based on the NAFEM Data Protocol. The protocol allows staff to monitor temperature, identify problems and document temperature recordings.
