ABSTRACT
The article reports on the preparations of a group of Republican state representatives to introduce intelligent design legislation when the legislature reconvenes in early January 2006 in the United States. A questionnaire including a question about whether there should be equal time for intelligent design in science classes was circulated by 36 of the 53 Republican state representatives to their constituents. Although interest in such legislation is apparently strong in the House of Representatives, Senate Presidents, Senate President Pro Tempore Robert Garton was lukewarm. The executive director of the Indiana School Boards Association emphasized that the legislature ought to defer to the state board of education.
