ABSTRACT
The article reports on the first store opened by extreme value retailer Grocery Outlet under the Lucky banner in Rocklin, California in 2006. According to Jon Wylie, the retailer's vice president of marketing, the store is a smaller, more neighborhood-oriented format. The company decided to revive the Lucky banner since it was known and loved for its low prices and was a chain based on solid retailing practices.
