ABSTRACT
The article relates the author's experience in observing the heroin addiction in Española Valley, New Mexico. The drug is extracted from opium poppies plant native to Europe and western Asia. The place has a cemetery in which the buried had commonly died from heroin overdose. The national media have issued an endless reports on the place's heroin problem and focuses on the irony of drug addiction in such a beautiful place. The local media is centered on crime and death, which are claimed to be the impacts of the drug addiction.
