This article describes a motor imagery test that was administered to male and female university students to test their ability to control or manipulate motor imagery mentally. The authors of the study developed a test to measure the controllability of motor imagery (CMI test). The test included a specific number of tasks with a certain number of image control steps per task. Gymnastic students were asked to image a certain pose and were asked to manipulate the image through a series of steps. Researchers concluded that the CMI test could be useful, but that further work was necessary to generalize the validity of the test.
