ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the life and works of gay author Thornton Wilder. Wilder was excluded in Queer Studies because he never wrote anything overtly gay due to his upbringing, his time period and his own natural proclivities. Wilder's urge to belong, to look for the ties that bind folk together and to seek the universality of human experience are reflected in his Pulitzer Prize-winning second novel, "The Bridge of San Luis Rey."
