Galloway, Stephen
March 2006
Hollywood Reporter -- International Edition;3/14/2006, Vol. 393 Issue 27, p27
The article states that, as the exhibition sector braces for a digital cinema rollout, AMC Entertainment Inc. hopes to lure audiences back to the movies with quality service and state-of-the-art facilities. More that four decades after its creation, AMC Entertainment finds itself at a crossroads. After merging with former rival Loews Cineplex Entertainment Corp. in January 2006, the company, now the second largest theater circuit in the U.S., must come to terms not only with declining movie audiences and stiff competition from home entertainment but also with the transition to digital cinema, which experts predict will most likely begin to get under way in 2006.
