ABSTRACT
The article reports that Moody's Investors Service Inc. has upgraded about 350-million-dollar of sales tax debt sold by Lafayette, Louisiana on April 17, 2006. The upgrade was part of the credit's sizable tax base, which has a large oil and gas industry influence. About 146 million dollars of outstanding sales tax debt secured by a 1 percent sales tax approved in 1985 was upgraded to A1 from A2.
