ABSTRACT
The article reports that Blackwell Publishing Inc. has become the first global publisher to become carbon-neutral. Blackwell publishes more than 800 journals and 650 text and reference books each year and has offices around the world, including the United States. The publisher is cutting carbon dioxide emissions where possible and offsetting them when they are unavoidable, the company said. Blackwell is using projects by the CarbonNeutral Co. of London to offset emissions, including renewable energy, energy efficiency and forestry efforts.
