This article focuses on the impact of an explosion at an oil depot in Buncefield in Hemel Hempstead, England in December 2005 on haulage companies. Increase in insurance premiums is expected to hit operators because of the damage from the explosion. David Woodage, operations director for Cheetah Couriers, said that his firm was still uncertain of the total cost of the damage. Besides explosions, incidents like arsons, terrorism and floods can also cause an increase in premiums.
