ABSTRACT
The article discusses the application of laser production systems in the processing of turbine engine components. Carbon dioxide lasers are useful for cutting, welding and cladding. Nd-YAG lasers are utilized for drilling, welding and cutting. Q-switched lasers are used in ablating and marking. Laser machines that use these sources are multi-axis computer numerical control with technology modules that allow for part probing, airflow feedback, surface following, drilling on the fly and breakthrough detection.
