ABSTRACT
The article reports on research conducted in Italy that chlamydia trachomatis infection, which causes sperm phosphatidylserine externalization and fragmentation of DNA, may be the cause of male infertility, as published in the 2006 issue of the Human Reproduction journal. Sperm samples were taken from eight normozoospermic males and incubated with increased amounts of chlamydia trachomatis serovar E elementary bodies for six and 24 hours.
