ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the elimination of boredom in America, due to portable technological devices. Augustin de la Pena, one of the foremost authorities on boredom in the U.S., is looking for a publisher for his lengthy treatise on the subject. Steven Johnson, author of the 2005 polemic "Everything Bad Is Good for You: How Today's Popular Culture Is Actually Making Us Smarter," argues that our culture of constant distraction is inflating our IQs. The benefits of boredom are discussed.
