ABSTRACT
The article reports on the rise and fall of 10-Gigabit Ethernet prices. The other Ethernet switch technologies like Gigabit Ethernet and Fast Ethernet each delivered $1 billion in annual revenues within three years of initial shipments. The 10-Gigabit Ethernet has yet to reach this mark and its already in its fifth year of shipping. The price of this product is the major obstacle because it continues to cost a bandwidth price premium that discourages its adoption. There are graphs that compares the shipments of the different Ethernet technologies shown for further explanation.
