ABSTRACT
The article reports that New Mexico has financed the construction of the Southwest Regional Spaceport with 100 million dollars in severance tax bond proceeds. The state government is hoping that the temporary spaceport will become the center of the commercial space industry in the U.S. The state studied the spaceport project for a long time and continued with the development after British billionaire Richard Branson accorded to base his Virgin Galactic space-tourism business at the site.
