The article provides an overview of the fiscal condition of Arkansas. The Arkansas General Assembly has developed a budget for fiscal 2006 and 2007. The Arkansas Public Employee Retirement System has an unfunded liability totaling 18 percent of its assets. It registered an increase in the value of its investments by the end of 2005.
