ABSTRACT
The article reports on the vote of the United States House Appropriations Committee members rejecting an amendment that would have provided 3.4 billion dollars in assistance to farmers who experienced losses due to hurricanes, droughts or other weather disasters in 2005. The amendment would offer farmers supplemental payment 50 percent of their direct payment.
