ABSTRACT
The article looks at the use of public-private partnerships (PPP) to repair and maintain highways and bridges in the United States in light of budget constraints. One example is Indiana's toll road privatization involving private investors Macquarie and Cintra. In a PPP agreement, the private investor pays the government an upfront price in exchange for a long-term lease of the infrastructure.
