ABSTRACT
The article points out that the optimistic predictions of the future have given way to a vision of disaster. The optimism of Herman Kahn and Anthony Wiener in their book " The Year 2000" which predicted a surprise-free economy and the emergence of a Standard World, has been replaced by visions of scarcity and unemployment. However, people should realize that the real future is bigger and more surprising than what many people think.
