The article reports the cost estimate for the construction of an extension of the Metrorail subway system to Washington Dulles International Airport in Virginia. The Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation estimates that the project will cost two billion, reflecting an increase in projected costs of materials and property. It is suggested that the rising cost could jeopardize the federal government's pledge to pay one half of the funding for the first phase of the project.
