ABSTRACT
The article reports that the U.S. municipal bond market finished weaker on March 23, 2006. The performance was influenced by the pulling out of bonds for the bid and home sales surge. According to Mike Moran, chief economist at Daiwa Securities, the unexpected rise confirmed underlying strength in the economy and reinforced expectations that the Federal Reserve will continue to increase rates in 2006.
