ABSTRACT
The article reports on the importance of transportation in the agriculture industry in Memphis. There is a need to increase efficiency in the transportation of products to various market. Due to the large volumes of product transported there exist capacity crunch and becoming congested. The fuel surcharges is getting in the way for farmers doing business in other states. The global competitiveness of the industry is challenge by the transportation problem and energy costs.
