ABSTRACT
The article reports on the financial performance of Bayou Steel Corp. for the first quarter of 2006 in Louisiana. The company declared net income of 3.2 million dollars for the first quarter, which is 23.8 percent behind compared with the same quarter in 2004. However, its sales had increased by 6.4 percent during the period. According to Jerry M. Pitts, president and CEO, they are expecting shipments to continue to rise and a strong market for the rest of the year.
