ABSTRACT
The article highlights the trends in the municipal bond market in the United States in February 2006. It discusses the decline in municipal bond issuance as tax-exempt borrowers sold 35 percent less debt as compared to February 2005. A total of $20.01 billion in municipal bond debt was brought to market through 673 deals in February 2006. Key factors contributing to the decline in municipal bond issuance are discussed.
