The article presents a commentary on the article "An Updated Study of Mortality Among North American Synthetic Rubber Industry Workers," by N. Sathiakumar, J. Graff, M. Macaluso and colleagues that was published in the December 2005 issue. It questions the validity of the information that high exposure to butadeine and styrene can increase the risk of haemato-lymphopoietic malignancies in work areas, that butadeine and styrene are carcinogenic to humans.
