Congressional group plans for oil's decline

Wilkison, Brett
February 2006
High Country News;2/6/2006, Vol. 38 Issue 2, p6
The article focuses on the plan of some members of the U.S. Congress led by Representatives Tom Udall (D-NM) and Roscoe Bartlett (R-Md) in preparation for the eventual decline of worldwide oil production. Udall and Bartlett have formed the Congressional Peak Oil Caucus to begin discussing preparations for a post-peak world. Other legislators like Mark Udall (D-Colo) and Raul Grijalva (D-Ariz) have supported such initiative. Significantly, the reduction of oil consumption by transportation is also crucial since it accounts for 70 percent of the country's annual oil use.
