ABSTRACT
The article presents trends and developments in the "High Country News" (HCN) publication in the U.S. Janiec Gutierrez is the newest member of the periodical's marketing department wherein she will be responsible for advertising sales. Poet-columnist V. B. Price is the only reader who has braved the Paonian winter to visit the HCN office. Readers can now log in at the HCN Web site to provide their own article for the publication. Dan Egan has won the 2005 John B. Oaks Award for Distinguished Environmental Journalism. Several HCN readers were inducted into the hall of fame which include activists Connie Harvey and Dottie Fox, HCN board member Mark Harvey, and Nick and Maggie DeWolf.
