ABSTRACT
The article reports on the negative reaction of other European Union members on Sweden's proposal to ban decabromodiphenyl ether (DecaBDE). Swedish scientists have suggested that DecaBDE might be carcinogenic. But the flame-retardant chemical is being used to prevent fires from spreading and in textile coating for furniture upholstery.
