ABSTRACT
The article offers news briefs related to the semiconductor industry. Samsung Electronics of Seoul, South Korea introduced its new 1.72-inch super-reflective (SR) LCD screen. AccelChip of Milpitas, California was acquired by Xilinx of San Jose, California. ON Semiconductor of Phoenix, Arizona has inaugurated two Solutions Engineering Centers (SECs) in Portland, Oregon and Taipei, Taiwan. Cypress Semiconductor of San Jose, California and AuthenTec of Melbourne, Florida has jointly launched a reference design for adding biometric security to external hard disk drives (HDDs) via fingerprint recognition technology.
