ABSTRACT
In this paper a taxonomic classification for the chayote, Sechium edule (Jacq.) Swartz, that includes two subspecies: S. edule ssp. edule and S. edule ssp. sylvestre, is proposed. Additionally, wild populations of the species are documented for the first time for the states of Querétaro and Puebla, México, and distributional data for similar populations so far recorded in the country are also provided.

Background and Aims: In the Amazonian floodplains plants withstand annual periods of flooding which can last 7 months. Under these conditions seedlings remain submerged in the dark for long periods since light penetration in the water is limited. Himatanthus sucuuba is a tree species found in...

Background and Aims: Species may occur over a wide geographical range within which populations can display large variation in reproductive success and genetic diversity. Neotinea maculata is a rare orchid of conservation concern at the edge of its range in Ireland, where it occurs in small...

Cupressus dupreziana A. Camos (Cupressaceae) is an endemic species in the Tassili n'Ajjer (Algerian Central Sahara). Terpenoid analysis were carried out on 160 trees of 12 natural populations with a view to determining the intra-specific variability. Eighteen sesquiterpenes were detected,...
