This article is a discussion of the writings and opinions of John Tierney, a columnist for "The New York Times." The writer attacks Tierney for his strongly held libertarian views, which, in the opinion of the author, make the topics and conclusions of Tierney's columns predictable and rigidly uniform. Tierney is dogmatic in his belief in self-reliance and free enterprise. Tierney's opinions are said to be without nuance or subtlety and always conform to his beliefs and pre-determined conclusions.
