ABSTRACT
The article reports on the performance of the Asian ethylene markets as of March 5, 2006. The markets face their tightest year yet, with an estimated production loss of 2.8m tonne in 2006 due to a heavy turnaround schedule. Although China has the smallest imports for all of northeast Asia, demand is expected to grow significantly in the coming years due to the proliferation of nonintegrated downstream plants.
