ABSTRACT
This article presents an update on the efforts of BASF to acquire Engelhard as of March 2006. BASF issued a letter to Engelhard shareholders that urged support for the board nominees of BASF. BASF has previously suggested that it may raise its bid for Engelhard to $38/share, up from a previously rejected offer price of $37/share. Some analysts say that BASF may have to increase its bid to $40/share to be successful.
