ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the purchase of EMD locomotives by Canadian National and BNSF Railway in 2006. The units ordered by Canadian National are planned for western Canada mainline service. BNSF Railway has allocated 310 locomotives in its capital commitment program for 2006. BNSF also plans to purchase 40 rebuilt GP38-2s from National Railway Equipment Co.
