ABSTRACT
The article reports that customers who buy gas at 15 Sheetz convenience stores in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania and Richmond, Virginia area will have to pay before pumping due to the high number of gas drive-offs in those areas. The policy was enacted due to an increase in gas theft from stores in those two markets, a trend in the market of competitors moving to pre-pay and the rising cost of fuel. So far, the new policy has prevented gas theft while maintaining store sales.
