The article focuses on the barcode readers operating at the Thomas J. Hatern Memorial Bridge in Chesapeake Bay, Virginia. The barcode readers can read standard-size AVI decal at the six-foot distance in direct sunlight. It will not recognize a paper photocopy of the genuine label. One major advantage of the barcode system is increased traffic flow.
