ABSTRACT
The article focuses on issues related to adoption of Check Truncation Act known as Check 21. Check 21 is designed to promote check truncation through the introduction of substitute check. It is viewed that the customer impact of Check 21 has been underestimated. Check 21 is a large-scale change requiring serious allocation of time and resources for educating customers and employees. Managing image quality is another important aspect which needs to be addressed for proper implementation of Check 21. Image quality determines the terms of operational and payments risk apart from customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
