ABSTRACT
The article discusses the author's experience of taking command of the Eighth Army of the U.S. during Christmas of 1950 which is stationed in Korea. He was saddened by the news that Lieutenant General Walton Walker was killed in a jeep accident which compelled his takeover of the army. His preparation for his deployment includes making a will, providing an allotment for the care of his family and packing his things.
