ABSTRACT
Reports that the house arrest of Sheik Ahmed Yassin, the spiritual leader of Hamas, was lifted on December 24, 1998. Remarks given by Yassin at a rally in Gaza to commemorate the eleventh anniversary of the founding of Hamas; Religious group arrested by Israeli on January 3, 1999; Confrontation made by Orthodox yeshiva students on a visiting group of Reform rabbis from the United States who had come to pray at the Western Wall.
