The article reports on the benefits offered by the Sarbanes-Oxley Act to retail grocers. Confusion and chaos have resulted from the implementation of the act. Nevertheless, it has accomplished its goals. Retail executives are monitoring corporate activities in greater detail. A greater level of activity and responsibility from audit committees and senior management is an added benefit. Investors are better prepared to make decisions with the increased disclosure. Overall, a large percentage of companies maintained a sound internal control environment.
