ABSTRACT
The article reports on the launch of the most expensive running shoes from Nike. The model, Air Max 360, costs $160 per pair. The 360 is Nike's first shoe to eliminate foam from the mid-sole and replace it with air. The benefits include reduced weight and increased durability, but also better comfort since the full-length Air-Sole better corresponds to pressure points in the foot and provides greater flexibility in the forefoot. The latest shoe uses a new, more expensive thermoforming process to help shape air pockets and distribute them heel to toe based on how and where a running foot pounds the pavement.
