ABSTRACT
The article discusses research being done on blood-brain barrier, published in the 2005 issue of the "Gene Therapy." Soshana Behrstock and colleagues sought to improve drug delivery to the brain by removing the blood-brain barrier. They did this by implanting cells in the brain that are engineered to produce a protein called glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor.
