ABSTRACT
The article discusses ways on how to improve preplate electrocleaning. Electrocleaning is the normal method to prepare parts for electroplating. Anodic electrocleaning is used for final cleaning. Cathodic electrocleaning is being plated in a direct-current electrocleaner. Direct-current cleaning is more susceptible to staining from chromium-contaminated cleaners than is reverse-current cleaning. It is important that any work negatively affected by hydrogen embrittlement should not be cleaned cathodically. The periodic-reverse cleaning is made alternately cathodic and anodic using a current of 6-15 volts. The interrupted-current cleaning is widely used in electrochemical deburring, electrochemical machining, electropolishing and electroforming.
