Competition is a good thing

Sporting News;2/24/2006, Vol. 230 Issue 6, p19
The article focuses on some of the baseball players who are worth watching during the current spring training. Curtis Granderson has power potential. Nook Logan has blazing speed. Neither is a stellar fielder. This might come down to offense vs. defense: Rookie Jeff Mathis showed hitting skills in the minors; Jose Molina is a proven big-league receiver. Righthanders Carl Pavano, Chien-Ming Wang and Shawn Chacon lead five, perhaps six, pitchers gunning for the three spots behind Randy Johnson and Mike Mussina.
