ABSTRACT
The article presents news involving fire chiefs in the United States as of January 2006. The Winterville Board of Aldermen have voted to bring on volunteer chief Danny Coward as the first full-time paid head of the department. Fire chief Tony Snook has retired after 30 years in the volunteer fire service. Jeff Homan has been named fire chief in Meridian, Mississippi. Fire chief Max Willard of Oakwood, Virginia died from extensive burns while fighting a wildfire.
