The article focuses on the design of the stone floor in the historic church Saint Marie e Donato Church in Venice, Italy. The stone floor appeared to be quilt-like geometric designs. The floors consist of very small stone pieces cut into rectangles and triangles, shapes that were laid in geometric units known as opus sectile. Although there are additional elements combined in the floors such as mythical figures, the opus sectile is still the main attraction..
